An experiment? I ask you? Is that what we are experiencing? Well it is becoming more and more popular opinion that it is a contrived condition, with central bankers behaving the way that they have been over the last decade. All the wealth has been squeezed up to the top 1 per cent of the world's population and now the bubbles are starting to appear at the bottom of the pot. And we all know what happens when the bubbles start forming at the bottom of the pot.
I'm not sure I want to be around when it starts to boil. But where would I go? Space travel has not been properly set up so my options are limited. Apparently Nostradamus said something about South Africa being the safest place to be in a world catastrophe. Hopefully we can avoid such a thing, but with the leadership the way it is, it does not look good.
Speaking of leadership, the "Us and Them" mentality seems to be prevailing with the coalition talks going on and the political squabbling reaching new heights. Julius seems to be refusing to join forces with either the DA or the ANC, like a kid at the party holding onto his toys and refusing to share them with anybody, so nobody gets to enjoy playing with them. So job creation be damned while they wrangle. Every day without pay prolongs the suffering of the whole family and the right to dignity just continues to be eroded, and the politicians will tell you that they have our interests at heart. Well there we go, and Cape Town is seething as the powers that be continue with the process of calculating the cost of moving Parliament to Pretoria. Recent political activity in that city would have me thinking that the move should be from Pretoria to Cape Town rather. But then I am such a layman that I should not be uttering my opinion on such matters, it is fun to do so anyway.
As the Rand strengthens and even rallies against the Dollar, the manufacturing sector and minis sectors are surely scrambling to make the most of a good deal. Speaking of mining, Marikana continues to be a bone of contention where the promises made have not materialised and the suffering continues and demands to be revisited and refuses to just go away and be forgotten.
Strike action and the #feesmustfall movement continues to threaten our education system with closure of institutions being the next best thing they can come up with. Is that a solution?
