Support for the Jes Foord Foundation Handbag Project

Support for the Jes Foord Foundation Handbag Project

Date: 2019-06-14

Durban-based law firm Schwenn Inc. recently handed over one hundred rape comfort bags to The Jes Foord Foundation following a successful eight week collection campaign in support of their Handbag Project.

The Handbag Project relies on the support of the community to donate new or used handbags containing items that can assist a rape victim during the initial reporting process at the police.

"Thanks to the incredible support of the community we were able to hand over one hundred rape comfort bags as well as one hundred of each of the required items needed to fill each comfort bag - such as facecloths, soap, toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorant, panties, sanitary pads, tissues, notebooks, colouring-in crayons and books, and small soft toys," says Charmaine Schwenn - Director of Schwenn Inc.

The Jes Foord Foundation distributes these rape comfort bags monthly to over twenty beneficiaries country-wide. "Thank you to the Schwenn Inc. team for driving such a successful campaign and a massive thank you to the community for their overwhelming support and generosity," says Trish Gillespie from the Jes Foord Foundation.
