By Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the UN General Assembly, where it was declared in 2014 that June 21st would become International Yoga Day and also announced that twoGuinness world recordswere awarded to the Ministry of AYUSH for the largest yoga class, featuring 35,985 people and for the largest number of participating nationalities from 84 nations.
In Celebration of this momentous day an hour of Yoga will be demonstrated on 18 June at the Durban Amphitheatre where more than 2000 people are expected to participate in this years International Day of Yoga.
The Yoga that will be demonstrated will be from the yoga protocol booklet, which is provided by the Government of India. The Sivananda World peace foundation Yoga Instructors together with instructors from the Art of Living foundation will conduct the days Yoga.
As part of a Yoga sustainable program, The Sivananda World Peace Foundation are going to engage the Department of Education to allow use of a school as a pilot project for 2018. The Foundation will provide a permanent
Yoga instructor so that it will help children to focus, achieve better results and become good citizens free from alcohol, drugs and violence.
