Durban's pristine winter weather at the idyllic Mount Edgecombe County Club made for a near perfect instalment of The Sunflower Fund's Annual Charity Golf Day, in association with Kingson Capital and Sanlam Private Wealth, on Tuesday 23rd July. Participating golfers were treated to bountiful goodie bags on arrival, chilled flavoured aQuelle water for the course, a great day of golfing and then onto a fun prize-giving and dinner.
Sports celebrity and media personality, Stefan Terblanche, played in and compered this well-loved event which sees some of Durban's most prominent businesses and business people swing into action for a great cause. Scores were tallied as a 4-ball alliance with two scores to count and the top twenty teams, including East Coast Radio and SA Rugby Legends, received fabulous sponsored prizes. The distinguished, Ian Wyles, conducted an exciting auction that raised significant additional funds on the day. A delicious dinner and fun prize-giving festivities was enjoyed by all.
Funds raised from the Golf Day will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness and education about blood stem cell donation, recruit more blood stem cell donors, grow the patient support fund and maintain a registry of committed donors. This in turn means greater hope of life for patients who are diagnosed with life-threatening blood diseases and who are in need of a blood stem cell transplant from a matching unrelated donor.
The Sunflower Fund wishes to thank Kingson Capital, Sanlam Private Wealth, Mount Edgecombe Country Club as well as all prize and goodie bag item sponsors for their generous support.
