Sandwiches by the thousands!
Sandwiches by the thousands!
Somevery wise person said: "Peanut butter is the glue that holds my life together."There were lashings of the delectable (and highly nutritious) adhesive aroundon The Domino Foundation's sarmie-making event on Mandela Day. The atmospherewas charged with energy as teams from various groups and organisations deftlyspread slice after slice with the caramel-coloured goo rich in fibre, healthyfats, vitamins E and B9.
Theoccasion was Domino's Mandela Day Peanut Butter Mission and would have beenendorsed enthusiastically by Madiba who said: "Our children are the rock onwhich our future will be built, our greatest asset as a nation."
Thesandwiches were all to be distributed to the Early Childhood Developmentcentres and schools on Domino's Nutrition programme, not only to fill hungrytummies, but also because the high-protein 'meals' are great for braindevelopment.
Themini mountains of sandwiches grew and grew and, by the time the lastbreadcrumbs and errant peanut butter smears were wiped from the trestle tables, the crew from FNB were the clear leaders in the "18 July Stakes" with astaggering 3000 sarmies ready for delivery.
FNBcheerleader and Client Portfolio Executive, Dalene Cockbain, was delighted atthe end of the spreading/cutting/packing marathon: "Once again, we are pleasedto be able to partner with Domino to meet the needs of their youngbeneficiaries."
FNB'scontribution to the day's labours added to a further 4300 sandwiches puttogether by other groups...a grand total of 7300!
