Thousands enjoy walk in support of peace and non-violence

Thousands of residents including members of the KZN chapter of the, Stop Gender -Violence campaign came out in support for the 13thannual Salt March on Sunday 23 April 2017 which was organised by the, GandhiDevelopment Trust to promote peace and non-violence.

Participants enjoyed the early morning march (walk) from the amphitheatre along Durban's world famous Golden Mile, and to UShaka and back including visiting American professor, Dr. Lemuel Berry Jr. II, of the, National Association of African American Studies & Affiliates (NAAAS) who was in Durban to assist in getting the Gandhi site in Phoenix to become a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Minister Tanelle Welff-Dixon, a 7-time rape survivor and head of the Stop Gender -Violence campaign for KZN, thanked, Mrs. Ela Ghandi for inviting her and her group and pledged their support for the event in the future. The Indian consul—general, Mr. Shashank Vikram also participated in the event.
