Norton Rose

Norton Rose

Date: 2014-05-23
Running big name international marathons has become something of a sport these days, combining, as it does, the joys of international travel with the agonyand the ecstasy of running hard through some of the most beautiful cities in the world. Murray Alexander, director at the Durban office of Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa, a seasoned runner with Regent Harriers, and encouraged by his enthusiastic, but much slower, running mates, participated in the Schneider Electric Paris marathon on 6 April 2014. This is one of the five biggest races in the world and is endured by 50 000 long distance runners. Murray completed the arduous 42.195 kilometre race in a creditable four hours and 19 minutes, overcoming a shocking attack of The Dreaded Cramps 33 kilometres into the race. Murray Alexander commented: " This is a very well organised event in a beautiful city with amazing weather. I was delighted to finish 22 544th in the race. The highlight of the event, for me, was running along the banks of the Seine past the beautiful Louvre in the warm Spring sunshine. What a privilege!"
