The much anticipated 11thAnnual Sunflower Fund Ladies Breakfast was a sold out affair that saw 200 ladies gather at the iconic Coastlands Musgrave Hotel on Saturday, 11 March. The ladies were clad in their brightest 'Summer and Sunflower' themed ensembles and enjoyed a morning of meaningful fun, food and pampering in the name of charity and hope.
Amongst many pleasant sweets and treats, guests enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast spread, awesome goodie bags, special gifts sponsored by B.O.N Natural Oils, exciting shopping stalls, a La Vita Spa pamper station as well as decadent desserts courtesy of Chateau Gateaux and the South African Hospitality Institute students. There were also three raffle prize draws and loads of other exciting prize giveaways.
The two inspirational guest speakers of the morning were Carol Howard author of 'Beyond Limitations' and Wendy Hind of Chata Romano. Key financial sponsor, Dr Sheryl Smithies of The Smile Emporium, briefly spoke on the impact of general dental health and the valuable services that they offer. Long-standing Sunflower Fund supporter, Shireen Eraman, executive chef and director of Food Factori Corporate Catering and a former senior lecturer at the International Hotel School, did a sterling job of compering the event.
Funds raised from the breakfast will help The Sunflower Fund to cover the recruitment costs to grow a healthy, effective, ethnically diverse South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR) of committed donors. The Fund plays an active role in the process of giving hope of life through blood stem cell transplants.
