Zumbathon for Charity
Revved and ready for their first Zumbathon in aid of The Sunflower Fund are organisers Sharon Howard, Chantal Anley, Nicci Muscat, Heidi Kapp & Carol Hunter.
Gather the troops for a fun-filled morning, where you can exercise both your body and soul, by supporting this Zumbathon which takes place on Saturday, 30th March at Clarendon Primary School, 109 Roberts Road, Pietermaritzburg, from 9am to 11:30am. Apart from all the fabulous music and enjoyment, there will be awesome lucky draw prizes up for grabs.
The entry fee is R60 per person and people of all ages and fitness levels are welcome. You can also purchase a Sunflower Tope for R30 on the day. Organisers are challenging all local Zumba groups, as well as dance and fitness enthusiasts, to support this drive.
The Sunflower Fund is a non-profit organisation that is dedicated toward creating awareness and education around blood stem cell donation as well as actively recruiting more blood stem cell donors. This is fundamental in offering the hope of life to patients diagnosed with life-threatening blood diseases like leukaemia who are in need of a blood stem cell transplant from an unrelated matching donor.
Although it only takes two test tubes of blood to become a donor, it costs The Sunflower Fund R3 100 to tissue type this blood sample before it can be included on the Registry. In order to create an effective and representative Registry for all South African patients, The Sunflower Fund has to raise much needed funds
