Through my eyes

Through my eyes

At times my spirit shares an aromatic scent

My friend Thomas has been a source of emotional support for a number of years. He is pragmatic and level-headed. He often understands my issues and says things that make my brain's light bulbs light up.

Even though we are light years apart in our faith and convictions, it does not stop us from being firm friends, I hope for life.

Last week, while I was having my personal mini-meltdown, he sent me a beautiful short video on Whatsapp called 'Lotus of Gratitude'.

It is an interesting way to start the day and it beats my normal routine of checking my emails and social media accounts.

Please go to and check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch v=ODUWeDY0fcw

So While I needed the time to have my mini-meltdown, it was also very important timing. Basically it allowed me to take a long breath, acknowledge my anger this is when I took a long walk on the beach, had a quick cry and asked, what is there that I could be grateful for

It was only when I went to that place of gratitude that I saw the support of my friends, my family, my team. I saw the opportunity for me to practice patience and listening and communication. I saw how I would do things differently in the future. And I saw an opportunity to grow as both a worker and a human being.

I also found out that by practicing the speaking of gratitude, I can open myself more to that feeling. I can become, in time, a grateful person, and to me to be a grateful person means that gratitude is not only something I do but rather, trying to be gratitude.

We all know that words are energy. What I speak shapes my heart, or my consciousness. I cannot blame my consciousness on the environment, or anyone else. Through my channelling of feeling and perception I can determine the circumstances of my life.

The moment I say "Thank You," verbally or nonverbally, I am moving in a positive direction. The very words "Thank You" carry the energy of thankfulness. I can speak them, even when I do not feel like speaking them. Then, I am one step closer to gratitude. I am acting out of and connecting with, and sharing, the inspiration of the underlying Life of my life. I am connecting with the higher power. I am responding faithfully to the Divine blessing in and on my life and my being, including my place in the world.

So today I am grateful for the benefits of this practice and to be develop in gareflex for gratitude. Gratitude always shows me that I am the one in control of my well-being. If I want to change something from negative to positive, all I need to do is accept my present state, honour it, give thanks and see the light.

I am sending you all a bright light of Gratitude thank you for reading my columns, sharing my passion (The Bugle) and supporting me in sharing the messages that are inside this week's edition. May we all be blessed by the eternal 'Lotus of Gratitude'.
