F1 Report

F1 Report

Date: 2013-08-01
Hungary was a surprise as Lewis Hamilton fought off gruelling track temperatures that ate away at his tyres and an intense race had him concentrating every step of th way.

Hamilton was surprised with his achieving pole position and with Sebastian Vettel getting away to a slow start. Tyre wear was not as bad as Hamilton had expected and Hamilton was the first front-runner to pit on the ninth lap, for a change from the soft Pirellis to medium.

Vettel followed suit on the eleventh lap and Raikkonen on the 13th, putting Mark Webber into the lead. The World Champion, Vettel lost more time trying to pass Jenson Button and eventually had to be satisfied with third position. Raikonnen played his Lotus like a fine tuned instrument, taking advantage of every inch he could to hold off Sebastian. Webber followed his teammate home making it a three four finish for Red Bull.

Once again it came down to the tyres, the all-important contact with the roads so take heed and get yours checked.

Going into the summer break Srbastian Vettel still holds the lead in the driver's championship on172 points. Kimi Raikkonen overtakes Fernando Alonso clinching 134 to his 133.

In the constructors' championship Red Bull soar ahead with 277 to Merc's 208 and Ferrari's holds third on 194.

The next race day is Sunday 22nd September at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore around 2pm. Read about it in The Bugle.
