Through My Eyes
Through My Eyes

It's flooding again and I am sitting here in the dark. Unscheduled load shedding is here to keep me company. No need to complain, what would be the point? But I just can't help thinking that the Universe has conspired against me and wants me to be in this dark space.
My heart goes out to the people of Umdloti, La Mercy and Sea tides. While the recent flooding has left us with minor damages, I cannot imagine the trauma of the deluge of the landslides that took place in our province. Whole towns are now completely cut from civilisation and the repairs are just not happening. In hindsight, with the latest price of petrol, who can afford to travel?
Not everyone is complaining, though. There are some brave companies that are seeing new opportunities in this present economic tension, they are launching new products aimed at emerging markets. Believing the South African dream, they still dine at The Oyster Box, drink expensive wine and see their future in family unity.
There are people buying new homes, having babies and taking six-week drive holidays through Botswana. But for most, we are all 'gatvol'. With the news that Umgeni Water's reservoir, has been flooded again, we must prepare for water shortages yet again.
Like most South Africans I'm adaptable. I can do without a lot of my daily comforts but I am so very sad to see that so many people are choosing Europe and other parts of the world as their new homes because they just lost hope in the resurrection of our rainbow nation.
The world is a strange place at the moment, people have had enough of fear-mongering and lockdowns. We have earned the right to our freedom just by surviving when so many didn't.
We have taken a leap forward and it has paid off. The Bugle is starting to shine again, its sparkle ignites in me and I am hoping to be able to bring you a publication that is full of hope and vision and positive vibrations. We have reclaimed our right to be fearless and to be bold and we would love you to be a part of our journey. Our world is changing so fast. No one can predict the future.
As our lives return to normal, we must stay together, be there for each other, adapt to the present condition of fluctuation and learn to stay positive, focused and grateful for even the rain.
I would love to hear from you. Drop me a line, whether you would like me to feature your business, or maybe you would like to share your story with The Bugle readers, lets's connect and keep our hopes alive.
Here's wishing all the father's a happy Father's Day!
