Gary Formato and teammate Shaun Duminy's efforts resulted in the team securing second and third place overall for the day. The results were calculated by combining the competitors' times across the three heats.
"I'm pleased to be back behind the wheel. I've missed a few rounds following an Achilles heel injury. I'm still in some pain but ready to battle it out on the track," commented Duminy ahead of the event.
In the race Formato fought his way through the field to finish third while Duminy moved into fifth. In the second heat the grid was reversed leaving Duminy and Formato fifth and sixth respectively.
"With the faster cars trying to get past the slower cars at the start, there was a lot of contact into the first corner," said Formato. "There were a few casualties but luckily we got away with some minor damage to the bumper."
Formato went on to secure third place again, while Duminy held on to fifth position.
In the final heat Formato immediately took the lead with Duminy holding station in third place. A red flag four laps from the finish saw teams line-up in a sprint to the finish. In a nail biting fight to the flag, Formato claimed the win on the final corner while Duminy claimed the final podium position.
