Cruising The California30

Cruising The California30

Author: Tomas Yoko
Date: 2013-08-09
The feeling of sophistication and distinctive style all began as I was waiting for Jeremy Eccles, Sales Manager or Viglietti Motors in Umhlanga. I was shown into the design centre of their showroom and as I entered I could feel all the hairs on body start to bristle.

It is here that the journey of owning one of the world's most famous cars begins. The choices of model, mag wheel and optional extras were all right there at my fingertips, however I was unfortunately not there to custom style my own Ferrari, I was there to test drive the California30.

Jeremy took me through the subtleties of the car and in a few breaths I was behind the wheel and driving the dream. The tingling sensation stayed with me as I pushed the naught to a hundred sprint, reported to be 3.8 seconds. I just didn't have the time to press the stopwatch.

To say it was thrilling is a huge understatement. The Handling Speciale package with Magnetorheological dampers held the California30 as tight as a tourniquet drum. The thrilling sensation of knowing and feeling exactly where the four squares of rubber connected with the tar was exasperating. I felt like a tiger on the road.

All that changed as soon as my wife joined me, gone was the boy racer, replaced with Mr Suave. I felt like a king in the California30 and I'm sure you would too.
