More is More!

More is More!

Date: 2013-11-15
Every once in a while an automaker will create something so special, a new automotive niche is born. This is exactly the case with the all-new Lexus ES. Here you have a car with a restrained price tag offering comfort, convenience and cachet while still managing to satisfy the most sybaritic of palettes.

As Justin Ryan, General Manager of Lexus South Africa, points out, Lexus hasn't forgotten about the buyer looking for a more value-oriented luxury proposition: "they want all the bells and whistles that a Lexus badge confers, but neither want nor need an eye-popping sprint time to go along with it."

So what exactly are you getting with the new Lexus ES?

Purposeful styling with an appropriate dash of drama thanks to the now-familiar Lexus spindle grille.

Space, space and even more space. As Ryan mentions, "this is one car you'll want to test drive from the back seat - price-wise the ES slots in just below the IS range, but spatially it offers accommodation closer to that of the GS."

Engaging road manners with ample performance courtesy of the 2.5-litre, four-cylinder, 2.5-litre 16-valve, DOHC, Dual VVT-i engine in the ES 250 and the hybrid petrol/electric combo of the ES 300h. "The ES is a classic highway cruiser with a buttery smooth ride and thanks to the sophisticated multi-link rear suspension, it never loses its trademark Lexus poise even when the going gets twisty," Ryan says.

A superbly crafted interior with top-notch finishes and bristling with every conceivable luxury, safety and convenience accoutrement.

"A price tag of R435900 for the ES 250 Need we say more?" - Justin Ryan concludes.
