Job Readiness Certificates for Youth
KwaDukuza Municipality in partnership with the United State Diplomatic Mission in South Africa conferred job readiness certificates to local unemployed youth
The KwaDukuza Municipality in partnership with the United State Diplomatic Mission in South Africa - U.S. Consul General Durban Office - conferred much needed job readiness certificates to local unemployed youth following the successful completion of a capacity workshop.
This capacity workshop was aimed at youth with little or no experience, ideally those who are preparing for job interviews, creating CVs, building self-confidence or applying for jobs even online.
The chairperson of the Youth, Sport and Gender Portfolio Committee - Councillor John Phahla, appreciated the opportunity given to this demography of youth which in the main has given them the necessary skills to apply for jobs online as well as skills required for interviews, an area that many employers have identified as being a problem area.
"We really appreciate this opportunity that our youth has been given in order for them to develop their own action list in how to market, prepare for an interview, search and find potential opportunities for jobs. We encourage our youth to use this job preparation as an instrument to master every interview obstacle they may encounter and as a tool to eliminate unemployment rate in our country", said Cllr. Phahla.
As the municipality we grateful for the support U.S. Consul General Durban Office and the United State Diplomatic Mission in South Africa in general to equip our youth with skills that shall make them employable.
