Whats The Issue?

Whats The Issue?

I tried to shed a tear for top cop Jackie Selebie, I really did, spurred on by the voices of his comrades who want to remember him for all the good he did. Remember he was top cop in SA and head of Interpol, with friends like Agliotti and Kebbel and that was just when he started out.

How easy it is to forget and, in the face of death, to forgive. I wonder if any of the mothers of drug addicts who suffered at the corrupt hand of such a stalwart will be as quick to forgive him the transgression. What transgression you may ask? Well for a man to be given the honour and privilege of the position he held, the faith of the nation placed at his feet and he proceeds to use it as a doormat to wipe his feet on, we should just look the other way and forget about it?

This nation gave him our trust and he spat on it. The damage he did to the country has never been assessed but I can assure you that if there were a way of finding out how much damage he did to our police service by being such a corrupt crook, we would still be counting today. So while I do sympathise with his family I feel little for him.

Now the battle for KZN gets underway between Sihle Zikalala and Senzo Mchunu and the talk on the street is that whomever wins will be the "Kingmaker" at the ruling parties next leadership race. Viva Mchunu! Sorry Sihle.

While the ANC and the DA battle it out over whose name to put on a square, the financial costs of such a debacle surely undermine the service delivery that both parties are expected to be concentrating on. If life was a fairy tale then the two political parties would work together for the betterment of the life of their people instead of battling it out to be the one who holds the purse strings. But then life is not a fairy tale, more like a horror story. So horrific that they release the "Prime Evil" Eugene back onto our streets. After receiving two life sentences and 212 years in jail, he gets parole. My head is spinning again.

Well this all pales into insignificance as the possibility of all out war between Russia and the Ukraine seems more and more inevitable with every newscast. The severity of the attack on civilian positions by the Ukrainian government forces is like a horse kick to the solar plexus. So if Russia has to step in to stop the UN backed NATO motivated Ukrainian army from destroying the country known as Ukraine, then in my book they would be doing the world a favour and perhaps Poland can get back the land that was taken from them by the Ukrainians and the Russian people of Ukraine will surely be better off being welcomed back into their mother's arms.
