Driven Renault Duster Dakar
The space frames for the 2015 Dakar Dusters were co-designed, developed and built in South Africa, and its new and powerful 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine was also developed locally, manufactured from Infiniti (Renault/Nissan Alliance), delivering around 250kW and 500Nm of torque.
Renault has highs hopes for the 2015 Dakar Rally. The French manufacturer wants a top ten result for its Duster team in this year's race - and has relied heavily on South African off-road racing expertise to try and achieve this.
However at McCarthy Renault Gateway, you, the customer, are always a winner. Number 1. And you can test drive the Renault Duster, which is a 2015 Car Of The Year finalist in the Wesbank SAGMJ's annual competition.
Fitted with Renault's new 1.5 dCi 80kW turbo diesel, the Renault engine most sold around the globe, the 1.5dCi represents more than 60% of Renault sales in Europe. This engine underscores Renault engineers' excellence when it comes to engine downsizing and coupled with a manual 6-speed gearbox, this new generation powerplant (code named K9K, this is a family of straight-4 turbocharged diesel engines) affords unparalleled driving pleasure thanks to its extreme responsiveness in all conditions (low end torque). Its turbo architecture has a specific and innovative design, which simplifies air admission for a higher output.
But there is so much more to this model from Renault that you really should go and check it out at McCarthy Renault Gateway. Visit their showroom at 1 - 3 Sunset Close or call and arrange a test drive on 031 576 5300.
