Last Concert of the 2021 Season for Baroque 2000
Let’s celebrate Christmas in music! Baroque 2000 will perform it’s last concert of the 2021 Season on Sunday 19 December, 11h30am at the Church of the Mariannhill Monastery. The concert programme will be very festive and enriched by the presence of the fantastic and energetic Hlengiwe Mkhwanazi, a brilliant soprano voice, originally from KZN but a resident of Cape Town. Hlengiwe will perform the famous arias from Handel’s Messiah “I know my Redeemer Liveth” and “Rejoyce Greatly” as well as “Let the Bright Seraphim”, a virtuoso aria from his Samson opera, with a trumpet obligato part. She will also perform the deep and charming aria “Domine Deus” from Vivaldi’s famous Gloria. All these works will be introduced by some orchestral excerpts from the same compositions and Baroque 2000 will perform the renown Concerto Grosso Op3 No8 “For the Night of Christmas” by Arcangelo Corelli. Tickets are sold at the door @ R170. Children are free! The Monastery Tea Garden will be open for refreshments and light meals and there is ample, free and secure parking.
