Legendary Musician Vusi Mkhize Performs at Home

Legendary Musician Vusi Mkhize Performs at Home

Date: 2015-07-10
Vusi Mkhize is an established guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer originally from Mpulanga township near Hammarsdale in KwaZulu Natal. His music is a unique blend of African Sounds, Authentic Contemporary South African music with a strong influence of Traditional Indigenous Music. Each song rings out a different message but the common denominator is a message of Peace & Unity. The lyrics are based on the Rich African Culture in South Africa and forgotten truths.

Mkhize created a unique sound that he calls "Urban Afro Music" to which he has been inspired by such greats as Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba, Sipho Gumede, Busi Mhlongo, Salif Keita, Youssou n'dour, Baaba Maal and Fela Kuti.

Over the years, Mkhize has gained lots of experience and has played in a number of interesting collaborations, performances and tours with both International and National musicians. He has recorded his own debut Album, Amathongo (The Ancestors), which was released in 2012.

At Seaman's Corner Mkhize's band will consist of Vusi Mkhize himself on lead guitar and lead vocals, Wake Mahlobo on drums, Mazwakhe Gumede on bass guitar, Mthobisi Mthalane on keyboard and Thandeka Mdlalose and Zama Ndosi on backing vocals.

This performance is supported by Concerts SA and brought to you by iSupport. Concerts SA is a joint South African/Norwegian initiative that aims to stimulate live music in South Africa by finding and implementing ways to create regular, sustainable performance platforms. It also aims to develop an interest in and appreciation of live music by showcasing music performances and conducting workshops at schools.

Don't miss out this Saturday 18 July Seaman's Corner, Hammarsdale (Unit 3) Doors 6pm R30. Tickets at the door.
