The Enigmatic Volvo S60

The Enigmatic Volvo S60

Author: Tomas Yoko
Date: 2014-05-23
It really happened, I was driving the new Volvo S60 on the M4, heading back to Ballito and as I glanced to my right the sight of the cool blue Indian Ocean with palm trees dancing ever so slowly in the breeze held my attention for a fraction of a moment too long. The sensation of the Volvo S60's lane keeping assist gently correcting my steering for me jerked me back to reality and I marveled at this fantastic technology.

So I decided to test the Volvo's abilities and steered the S60 to the right of my land, gently aimed the car at the yellow line and let go of the steering wheel. With no help from me the S60 gently corrected itself. I was enamored by this I tried it again, but this time I didn't correct the steering wheel as it headed back towards the white line. The Volvo corrected itself again and then again as it headed towards the yellow line. The S60 was steering itself.

It was at this point that a warning signal beeped at me and the S60 suggested that I take a break as the new Driver Alert Control flashed a symbol of a coffee cup on the dashboard. I was impressed.

However there was more than just that to impress me in the Volvo S60 that I was test-driving. The sophistication and attention to detail that Swedish design is famous for, however understated, kept coming and over the week that I had the car, I had not discovered everything. The depth of the S60 range is fantastic and deserves your enquiry.

Take the Volvo S60 for a test drive and discover the world of advancement that this car offers. Call Volvo Cars Umhlanga on 031 571 2600 or visit their showroom at 6 Sunset Close, Umhlanga Ridge.
