KZN Province Tourism Revitalization Beach Clen-Up Event

The KwaZulu Natal Sharks Board is the only organisation of its kind in the world. KwaZulu- Natal Maritime Centre of Excellence is the leader in bather protection against shark attacks maintains safety shark gear from Richard Bay to Port Edward. They also do activities such shark dissection shows which is an effort to bring science to learners and visitors in an informal setting, KZN Sharks Board has made a shark dissection part of the whole learning experience, and they also have Early Morning Boat Trips where that take visitors to experience the KZN Sharks Board operations staff servicing shark safety gear.

KZN Sharks Board was part of the Stakeholders that was participated at the Provincial Revitalization of Tourism Beach Clean Up Event which took place at Durban Beaches on the 10th of May 2024. Stakeholders involved were Entities of the Economic Development Tourism and Environmental Affairs Department (EDTEA), eThekwini Municipality and private companies in the Tourism Sector.

This is one of the initiatives that these organisations had to do to Vitalize Tourism in the province as it had been on the decline due to Covid-19, Looting and Floods which led to polluted Beaches. As a result of these challenges National Tourism had to come up which the ways of Tourism Revitalization. This was also a way of showcasing Durban to Tourists that Durban is still the place to be visited with a lot of attractions such as the Cleaner Beaches. This was also to send a message of confidence to the event's organisers such as Durban Tourism Indaba, Comrades Marathon, Durban July and other events that Durban is still the City to host bigger events.
