Testing The New Tiguan Diesel

Testing The New Tiguan Diesel

Author: Tomas Yoko

Test driving the new Volkswagen 2.0 TDI Tiguan came with a few surprises for me. I have driven the new Tiguan and must say that I was impressed, however the arrival of the new diesel derivative came with some added excitement and fine touches that made my weekend affair with this new model from Volkswagen, that little bit extra special.

I was blessed with the 130 kilowatt engine, just one of four new engine options from Volkswagen, and I found my eyes were wide open every time I got behind the steering wheel. To say that the new Tiguan deliveres spirited performance would be to underplay the reality. There is an 81KW, a 105kw, the 130kw version I drove and then the range topping 162 kilowatt petrol engine.

The one element of the new range of Tiguan models from Volkswagen, is the improved 4MOTION all wheel drive system that comes standard with these models. The feel I got from the Tiguan was positively thrilling, the smooth accelleration combined with the all wheel drive traction really gave the impression of definite control, it was as if the Tiguan was on railway tracks it was so positive. The new fifth generation Haldex coupling, a rather technical inter axle differential drive train element to the new Tiguan, which works in conjunction with the anti-skid braking system as well as the ESP traction control system, to produce sublime roadholding that kept a smile on my face the whole time.

The new Tiguan comes standard with a 5 year or 90 000km Service Plan, plus a 3 year or 120 000km warranty and a 12 year anti-corrosion warranty. Service Intervals are at 15 000km.

With the long list of optional features, the new Tiguan is now even more attractive than ever before. Contact Ballito Volkswagen and make a date to test drive this amazing model, call the on 031 - 003 4000 or visit their showroom at 32 Moffat Drive, Ballito. You deserve the best.
