Welcome conquers Comrades dream
"Welcome's impressive qualifying times proved how determined he was and we, as a team are so proud to have supported him in achieving his dream," explains Dean Horn - Super Tyres Managing Director.
On race day, the staff from several of the Durban branches and the Support Centre came out in their numbers to support Welcome and eagerly awaited his arrival outside the Pinetown Super Tyres branch. Just before 07h00, excitement grew as the tall runner made comfortable strides towards his team. "The street came alive with cheers of support, some staff ran alongside him, waved banners and others sang in unison," says Dean.
The 30-year-old father of two completed the Comrades Marathon with an impressive 9:17:57 finish - a staggering hour and twenty minutes quicker than his first Comrades run last year, taking home a Titanium Robert Msthali medal.
"I am so happy to have been given the opportunity to run my second Comrades and am very grateful to my Super Tyres family for supporting me," said Welcome.
