Empowering Women in KwaDukuza
Women of KwaDukuza and surrounding areas were treated to a special event to commemorate National Women's Day this year. The event was hosted by Nation Builders, a non-profit organisation founded by Annet Michelle Sewraj in 2015.
"Nation Builders was born in my heart out of a vision to empower, equip and inspire women, youth and children. We put this event together to celebrate the significant role all women play in the transformation of our communities and our nation at large."
Nation Builders hosted 130 women from different spheres of society. They enlisted guest speakers who are experts in their fields to empower and inspire the guests. Speakers at the event included business entrepreneur, Carol Ligwa. Carol empowered the women with her own, tried-and-tested principles for business success. Thandi Meyiwa, a training and development specialist, encouraged all women to hone their skills and use it to empower others. She also shed light on how women can access government funding and the SETAs for training assistance. Tresia Bekker, a dietician at the Stanger Hospital, educated the women on ways to keep their families healthy, providing tips for shopping for nutritious foods and preparing healthier meals.
The keynote speaker at the event was the founder of Nation Builders herself, Annet Michelle Sewraj. She encouraged women to see themselves as the true agents of change and the real nation builders of society. She stressed that women have the power to build stronger families and to also rise up into positions of influence in the different domains of society.
The women in attendance were touched by the delightful occasion organised in their honour. They were motivated by the talks and encouraged to see other women of KwaDukuza come together to enjoy an inspiring yet fun-filled day.
"The empowerment of women was the motivation for the celebration, and the success of this event will be seen in strong women rising up in our community and making an impact as South Africa's nation builders," said Annet Michelle Sewraj.
