So you think you can cook Ballito Style

"Coastal living Bru" ended off with the sounds of celebration on Thursday night as wildcard surfer, Steven Sawyer, and pro chef Gerard van Staden from the Simbithi Country Club, took home the trophy for the finals of "So you think you can cook Ballito Style?". The victorious pair beat off stiff competition from the other contestants to become the winners of the three-night event.

Prizes for the winners included a R100 000 media package from FabMags for the pro chef and R10000 in prize money for the amateur chef. As a RedCap ambassador Steven generously decided to donate his well earned prize money to the RedCap Foundation. "I was stoked to win and I'm so happy the money will go to a good cause," Steven said after his win.

Natasja Ambrosio, Director of the RedCap Foundation, elaborated on the significance of Steven winnng the cooking event. "It was quite appropriate that Steven won as he is a RedCap ambassador and has seen our programmes in action. We would love Steven to actually be involved with the decision of where the money will be used."

Contestant placing: 1st: Gerard van Staden (Simbithi Country Club) and Steven Sawyer, 2nd: Cornelius Barnard (The Boat House) and Doreen Fomison, 3rd: Corne de Jager (Crawdaddys) and Shavaun Lindsay, 4th: Slyvester Nair (Boulevard 44) and Matt Bromley.
