Music and more at White Mountain Festival

Music and more at White Mountain Festival

Date: 2012-09-05
Chris Chameleon, Jeremy Loops, The Nomadic Orchestra, John Ellis and Andrew James are among the many top live acts set to take to the stage at the three-day White Mountain Festival coming up over the Heritage Day long-weekend from 21 to 24 September.

Also included on the bill are the likes of Janie & The Beard, Lilly Million, Paige Mac, Justin Sievwright, Kaiti Faul, Matt Vend and the Tender 10, Shomon, The Sir Walrus Band, Sheraaz, Nick Pitman and The Roadhoggs, Daniel My Brother, Zephyr, and American singer-songwriter Brett Newski - all of whom will perform acoustic sets in what has to be one of the most idyllic spots in the Central Drakensberg.

A quick 25km tarred detour off the N3 towards Giant's Castle brings you to White Mountain Lodge, which is where this annual music festival is held. With its spacious grounds, fishable dams, restaurant, charming old pub (with satellite TV), children's playground, swimming pool and convenience store, the lodge's many amenities add another dimension to the usual festival experience.

In addition, festival-goers can look forward to colourful arts and crafts, a beer market featuring several local breweries, as well as a wide variety of food stalls. There are also loads of fun activities for the whole family, ranging from abseiling, paintball and helicopter flips to guided hikes and a zip line across a nearby 100m-wide gorge.

One of the best-kept secrets on the music festival circuit, White Mountain is now in its seventh year and is known for its intimate, relaxed atmosphere and stunning setting. Situated less than 200km from Durban and 400km from Johannesburg, it makes for the ideal weekend getaway and is not to be missed!

Advance tickets cost R550 at Computicket and include camping for the entire festival. Gates open at 7am on Friday, 21 September. No under 18s without parental supervision. For more information and the full programme, visit http://www.c-weed.com/wmf/index.php or contact 031 563 0824.
