The Biggest Women's WSL Qualifying Series Surfing Competition In Africa
The Volkswagen SA Open of Surfing presented by Hurley - the fourth of five events in the City Surf Series (CSS) and stop No. 6 of 7 on the 2019 WSL Africa Tour.
This event is the biggest women's WSL qualifying series surfing competition on the African continent, with over R500,000 worth of prize money being distributed between the (QS) 3,000 rated event for Women, (QS) 1,000 rated event for Men, Junior Qualifying Series (JQS) 1,000 rated events for Men and Women aged 18-and-younger as well as SSA Longboard Men's and Women's divisions.
From Thursday June 13 to Monday 17, Pipe, Pollok Beach, Summerstrand, Nelson Mandela Bay; a consistent, high-performance beach break; will be the perfect arena for the competitors to impress judges and spectators alike. This contest traditionally enjoys large crowds and good vibes, as well as a spirited competitive element.
22 countries are being represented and over 80% of the entries for the illustrious QS3 000 rated Women's event are international competitors.
Contest organisers - Accelerate Sport -decided to host finals day for the Pro Junior Men and Women as well as the SSA Longboard Men's and Women's divisions to celebrate Youth Day on Sunday 16th June.
Champions will be crowned for the distinguished QS3,000 Women as well as QS1,000 Men on Monday 17th June which is a public holiday in South Africa.
