17 choirs participated in this year's installment of the provincial choral music competition. The annual event took place at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre in Port Shepstone this past weekend.

Winners included Umkhanyakude Choral, Mtshezi, Prince Mshiyeni, Thokozani Choral, St Anne's Catholic Choir, Ncome Choristers and Joyful Sounds under the various categories such as development, intermediate and advanced.

The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra formed part of the performances.

"We congratulate all the winners, some of whom will go on to represent the province at a national level. We also encourage all the participants to continue taking part in choral events to keep the musical genre alive," saidMEC Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi.
