IHS national awards given to two deserving students!

IHS national awards given to two deserving students!

Date: 2014-05-30
The International Hotel School Durban Campus recently held their annual graduation ceremony for the Class of 2013 with guest speaker for the evening African Insignia Hotels' partner, Thandekile Jessica Nhleko, giving an insightful speech that was encouraging to the learners who would be either already working or going out into the working world.

On the night, apart from the general awards that were given out, there were also national awards that were presented. These awards are offered to students at all the IHS campuses nationally, with two Durban students receiving the following:

The first award was the Three Cities Hotel Group Chief Executive Officer's Award for Full-Time Graduates. It is awarded to the student that had over excelled when placed in situations of extreme pressure both in the lecture room and in the hotels over the three years of study. This student displayed characteristics of maturity, leadership and excellent time management, which would have helped her produce good, solid results. This student's innate good manners and unfailing courtesy has also earned her the respect of her peers and staff of The International Hotel School. This student also made a positive contribution to the excellent reputation of the School. IHS congratulates Ntombizamagambu Memela on her achievement.

Memela is currently working at the Omni Mount Washington resort in New Hampshire in the United States of America and says, "Even though I wasn't present at the graduation ceremony due to working commitments, my father was there to receive it on my behalf. When my parents called me after the ceremony to tell me the good and unexpected news I was greatly humbled and proud. I thank IHS for the qualification and opportunities that they exposed me to and the lectures that educated me to be able to sit in a top position, not only in South Africa but internationally and I have taken what I learnt and have been able to use this in my current position overseas."

IHS wish all those who graduated and these two National award winners, a bright and successful future in the Hospitality Industry and look forward to seeing more successful students pursuing their dreams in the hospitality industry.
