High Tea in aid of God's Warehouse
It was an afternoon of glamour and subtle sophestication at businesswoman's and former beauty queen home last Wednesday. With two hundred socialites coming together to support local charity and listen to wise words on logivity and nutrition delivered by French naturopath Lucien Bonnet.
The high tea event was in aid of God's Warehouse, non profit organisation. God's Warehouse supports single, divorced and widowed mothers who have fallen, or are in danger of falling, through the gap between what they can manage to earn and the cost of feeding their families.
"Our mission is to ensure that no parent falls through the cracks just because they are doing the best they can to keep their children healthy and educated. Just think, if you lost the financial contribution of your partner would you be able to continue to provide the life and education which your children enjoy deserve? Do you really earn enough to be able to do that?" says Debbie Schroeder, founder of God's Warehouse.
God's Warehouse is that it is not a charity which gives hand outs, what it provides a hand up. The women it helps have to commit to helping themselves as well. The reason for this is that it is impossible to for a woman's situation to improve without a personal commitment.
The registered non-profit organisation's reach is not limited to Pietermaritzburg. It helps families from Richards Bay to Port Shepstone, from the greater Durban area through the midlands and up into KwaZulu-Natal's northern interior. God's Warehouse does not have government funding and relies on donations.
