Ride The Wild Horses

Ride The Wild Horses

Author: Damian Yoko
Date: 2021-10-01

In North America, wild horses descended from animals brought to the New World by the Spanish conquistadors. With their lust for freedom and an unbridled desire for exploration it is no wonder that they became an image of the embodiment of the American spirit.

Whether you align yourself with what has become of said spirit after the five hundred years that have passed since then or not, the image of a wild horse galloping to the beat of its own drum has an alluring charm to it. And being the pilot of the Ford Mustang 5.0 GT Series can bring up many of the same feelings felt by the wild mustangs, which roam the Great Plains to this day.

It’s hard not to notice the Ford Mustang, with its muscular body and bold styling accents on the exterior. If they don’t see you coming, they will most likely hear you, as this edition of the Mustang truly carries on in the tradition of power and clout, with its exquisite exhaust note (which can be controlled, so as not to annoy the neighbours before departure).

When it comes to features, the Fastback GT comes with all the expected entertainment system goodies, with a display, mobile interfacing options like Bluetooth and USB charging ports. Performance wise - the South African models come with only one option for both the coupe and cabriolet models, sporting the same (and only) 5.0 litre V8 engine.

This engine is not to be laughed off, at its peak it pushes out almost 530 Newton meters of torque, and is governed at a top speed of 250km/h. With prices for the hardtop and convertible starting from R1,045,200 and R1,115,900 respectively, the Mustang is a solid option for those who wish to break free of the norms and not just be another sheep amongst the herd.
