Stay In Heaven

Stay In Heaven

Author: Tomas Yoko

Nestled in the foothills of the valley in front of the Amphitheatre in the majestic Drakensberg Mountains is the very unassuming mountain retreat called Ezulwini.

The awe-inspiring presence of the mountain range fills the spectacular views in every direction. Ezulwini translated from Zulu means "Heaven".

On arrival there was no fuss or bother and we were shon to our six sleeper suite. It had everything we needed from ice trays to tea spoons. The rooms were light, airy and very accommodating. The linen was all clean and fresh and the rooms suited our needs perfectly. We were on a family bonding weekend and found ourselves gasping at the spectacular countryside.

The Spioenkop Dam and nature reserve was short drive from our lodgings as was a quaint, well-manicured nine-hole golf course. We went fishing, golfing and walked through the golden fading sunlight of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The cosmos speckled the countryside and everyone was in high spirits. There was mini golf, or putt putt as some know it to be called, an outdoor and an indoor swimming pool and then there were a long list of activities that were at our fingertips. Horse riding, trout fishing, cycling, trail walking, golf, you name it we were spoilt for choice.

Ezulwini represented fantastic value for money and accommodated the whole family very comfortably. The fireplace flickered its warm light as we talked and joked and laughed into the night, we were in heaven for a while.
