Author: FNB
Date: 2013-11-01
FNB and THE SOUTH AFRICAN HINDU MAHA SABHA hosted the FNB DURBAN DIWALI FESTIVAL 2013, UNITING YOUNG HINDUS on the 25th to 27th October at the Old Durban Drive Inn Site.

The Festival is planned to usher in Diwali 2013 with all the colour, splendour and light Durban has to offer.

FNB has been involved in the FNB Durban Diwali Festival for the past number of years. These festivals have become multicultural events, attracting visitors from all walks of life.

The festivals have allowed the general public a deeper look into the traditional Diwali festival celebrated by the Indian community all over South Africa, and it is a unique experience for all involved.

Despite the torrential rains experienced this weekend, the festival was a huge success starting off with meal being provided for an estimated 500 senior citizens together with a host of cultural events.

A float procession was displayed through the city on Saturday morning where different cultural groups exhibited their talents. This was followed by a VIP function on Saturday evening where the KZN premier, Mr Senzo Mkune addressed the public.

The spectacular Firework display was the highlight of the festival attracting thousands of people to the site.
