Following her Passion - Beverly Sadha Culinary Journey - Masala Masala - Umhlanga's Curry Den

Beverly Sadha is one brave, awesome lady, with a colourful past and incredible tenacity. In 2013 Beverly returned to South Africa to follow a family dream and to enjoy the true KwaZulu Natal lifestyle.

Beverly recently opened "Masala Masala". Masala Masala is a Curry - Durban Style restaurant and takeaway in Umhlanga. She has been cooking up a storm in her kitchen with her trusted chef . , Beverly is recreating dishes taught to her by her grandparents.

The Bugle spoke to Beverly at her spectacular venue in the heart of the Umhlanga village, "My grandparents had restaurants and my mum is an exceptional cook." Said Beverly, "My family is filled with exceptional chefs and I want to pay tribute to them with the food I prepare in my kitchen."

Beverly is sometimes assisted by her son Warren (15), who pops in whenever he can to help his mom. Warren dreams of being a professional footballer and hopes to one day join European Soccer Acadamies, he is often in training so his time with his mom is limited, however Warren is around for moral support.

Masala Masala is situated in Protea Mall in the Lighthouse Mall and offers expansive views of the Indian Ocean and both the Oceans and Pearls developments. It truly has a wonderful vantage point of the sprawling Umhlanga metropolis.

The simple seating and the warm welcome is a fresh and honest offering, amongst the plush and pretentious surroundings. Maybe it's because Masala Masala does not want to pretend to be anything more than what is on the menu; there are flying saucers for starters- Brinjal rings in spicy coriander bajia mix, deep fried to crispy perfection.

For main course you have a selection of choices between lamb, chicken, beans and prawn curries, served with savoury or white rice or roti, sambals and salad. And Masala Braaied Lamb Chops, 300gr char grilled, marinated in delicious Durban masala rub spices, served with Greek Salad and their famous potato salad and homemade chips.

The menu is fun and filled with Durban's favourites, including a "Babalas Brekkie", which is served all day long and consists of bacon, 2 eggs, curried baked beans and chilli chicken livers, rounded off with Durban's popular hot mutton sausages and toast.

Masala Masala offers nostalgic cuisine to satisfy any craving. Come visit Beverly and let her serve you one of her families trusted dishes. They are open for private functions, office parties and special occasions. For more information go to their website or call 031 - 561 1422.
