A Night of Soul and Spirit: Gregory Porter Live in South Africa Featuring KwaZulu-Natal's Own Power Duo - Nduduzo Makhathini and Omagugu

When Gregory Porter takes the stage, the air changes. His baritone carries both the ache and hope of the human heart - and this November, South Africa will feel it once again. The GRAMMY®? Award-winning jazz icon returns for his Love Is King SA 2025 Tour, a celebration of music that heals, humbles, and unites.

And for Durban audiences, the evening comes with something truly special. Sharing the stage at the Durban International Convention Centre on Saturday, 15 November, will be South Africa's acclaimed musical couple, Nduduzo Makhathini and Omagugu - pianist, composer, vocalist, and kindred spirits in both art and life.

The Soul of KwaZulu-Natal on One Stage

Both born and raised in KwaZulu-Natal, Nduduzo and Omagugu's story is a melody of collaboration, love, and lifelong artistry. Married for over a decade, their partnership began on stage and grew into something that transcends music - a creative union rooted in rhythm, faith, and ancestral connection.

Omagugu studied at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Tshwane University of Technology, and later completed her Honours in Music at the University of Fort Hare. Nduduzo followed a similar academic path, completing his undergraduate studies at UKZN and earning both his Master's and PhD at Stellenbosch University.

Between them, they've performed across continents - from New York's Winter Jazz Fest and Switzerland's Avo Session, to Mauritius' Mam Jazz Festival, Joy of Jazz, and the Cape Town International Jazz Festival. This year alone, they returned from two European tours and shared a standout performance with DJ Black Coffee at CTIJF.

"Nduduzo is a rare breed - his ancestral connection through music allows safe passage for his audiences," says Greg Maloka of GRIZA Enterprises. "And when the angelic Omagugu stands beside him, the experience becomes heavenly."

Gregory Porter - The King of Love Returns

Gregory Porter's deep, soulful voice has long been a balm for the world - a sound that bridges generations and genres, from jazz to gospel to soul. Known for his signature cap and timeless grace, Porter returns to South Africa after his 2023 sold-out tour left audiences in tears and standing ovations.

This year's Love Is King SA 2025 Tour includes Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg, with five shows across the country:

• Cape Town: GrandWest - 12 November

• Durban: ICC - 15 November

• Johannesburg: Montecasino - 20, 21 & 22 November
