The Race is on for The Suncoast Kzn Yearling Sale
"Some 250 yearlings will go under the hammer at the sale. The auction selection criteria is stringent and only the most exceptional young colts, fillies and thoroughbreds will be featured," said Koos de Klerk, Chairman of the KZN Breeders Club.
Racehorse owners will be eligible for three races to the value of R1million each provided that the horses are purchased at the Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale. An additional R1million bonus will be awarded to the racehorse owner who wins all three annual races.
Mike Dowsley, Managing Director of Suncoast, said: "We are proud to be associated with an event of such calibre for the second year in succession as the KZN Yearling Sale has always enjoyed first-class participants' and public support. Suncoast anticipates a growing presence at this year's event due to racehorse lovers' ongoing support of the local breeding industry.
"Whether you are betting against a favourite horse, intending to buy a KZN thoroughbred or simply want to be part of the fun, Suncoast is unquestionably your entertainment paradise this winter," said Mr Dowsley.
The incentives offered by Suncoast, in partnership with The KZN Breeders Club, are threefold: Firstly, the KZN Breeders Million Mile - previously known as the KZN Breeders 1600 - will hold a R1million bet this year, raised four times since 2011. The race will take place on Sunday 1 July 2012 at the Greyville Racecourse in Durban, one week ahead of the Vodacom Durban July event. It is open to all KZN-bred three and four year old horses only.
Secondly, a new R1million race for juvenile horses will be introduced in 2013 and will be restricted to graduates of this year's Suncoast KZN Yearling sale. The 1300 meter race will be held at the Greyville Racecourse in Durban during the Vodacom Durban July event on 7 July.
Thirdly, there will be a R1million bonus for any horse that wins the R1million juvenile race in 2013 as well as the KZN Breeders Million Mile in 2014 and 2015.
International clients unable to attend the Suncoast KZN Yearling sale will have the opportunity to bid online. For the first time, live video streaming will be introduced which will enable international clients to see exactly what specimens are on offer.
