The Sunflower Fund

The Sunflower Fund

Date: 2012-06-14
Relaxing at the end of the Comrades Marathon is Craig Maquire (9h50) and Wayne Sudding (9h49). They joined forty-three others and took part in The Sunflower Fund 2012 '56Miles4Marrow' Campaign, which raised over R100 000 for The Sunflower Fund.

All money raised will be used to include new bone marrow stem cell donors on the South African Bone Marrow Registry in turn giving hope to children and young adults diagnosed with life-threatening blood disorder such as leukaemia.

The Comrades experience is about blood, sweat and tears but most importantly about relying on others, mostly strangers, for support and assistance along the way. This is the same as the work of The Sunflower Fund who aim to find leukaemia patients their 1:100 000 donor match. The more healthy, committed and caring donors on the Registry, the more chance leukaemia patients have of survival.

The Sunflower Fund would like to thank all the Miles4Marrow runners and their sponsors for their amazing contributions.
