Cats Of Durban Launches Their Cats Album

Cats Of Durban Launches Their Cats Album

Date: 2016-10-14
Last week saw the launch of the Cats of Durban calendar for 2017. The media were invited to celebrate the partnership between Compass, Medical Waste Services and Cats of Durban.

The calendar features Oyster Box Hotel resident cat, Skebenga and was photographed by photographer Brendan Bromfield. This beautiful glossy calendar is a sweet representation of a few faces of Durban cat society and is aimed to raise funds to help feral sterilisation projects in Durban.

Cats of Durban project launched two years ago and was the brainchild of Niki Moore. The project is aimed at making people aware of the benefits of a managed feral cat population.

"There are a number of happy and well managed feral cat populations in Durban." Niki Moore told The Bugle, "Companies adopt them because they are ideal 'pest removers' and it also shows that the company has a caring side."

Helping feral cats is time consuming and can be frustrating, emotionally draining and expensive. It can also be extremely rewarding. It is through people's love and active involvement that further suffering and unwanted litters being born are prevented. In this way the quality of life for one of the most maligned and abused creatures on earth can be greatly improved.

"Our stray cats are a problem we created ourselves, through uncaring and ignorant people who do not sterilize their animals." Niki Moore pointed out, "If we created the problem, then we need to deal with it. Cats of Durban are helping to do just that."

If you would like to help Niki or would like to purchase a calendar please contact Niki on 031 - 205 8331 or email catsofdurban@gmail.com.
