Back To The Beginning With Merc

Back To The Beginning With Merc

Date: 2012-11-01
Mercedes-Benz took us all the way back to where it all began when they launched the new Mercedes-Benz CLS 250 CDi last month.

Heading towards the Cradle of Humankind, another World Heritage Site in our stunning country, we traversed highways and country roads, pot holed and smooth as a tarmack can be. The new Mercedes-Benz CLS 250 CDi proved once again why Mercedes-Benz is held in such high esteem.

The quality interior spoke the language of Mercedes-Benz, a familiar pattern of luxurious leather upholstery and concealed technology. The driver assist programs are comprehensive and compliant with what you would expect from Mrecedes-benz.

What's new in the CLS range is the very acceptable fuel consumption figures achieved by Mrecedes-Benz's new BlueEFFICIENCY diesel engine for this premium sedan. Mercedes-Benz reports figures as low as between 5.1 and 5.3 litres per 100 km from the 2413cc diesel engine. Astounding for such a big car.

The Haartbeespoort Dam shimmered as we sped past in almost total silence. The bumpy country roads were absorbed expertly by the stately suspension and a steady stream of cool air tamed the hot winter sun. The Harman Kardon sound system appeased our auditory senses as we approached the place where Humankind began.

"The CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY delivers on all the finer elements you would expect from a Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, from futuristic design, to superlative quality of comfort features. The CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY gives our customers the opportunity of owning a CLS with an ECO friendly engine at an attractive price proposition," so says Selvin Govender, Divisional Manager, Mercedes-Benz Cars.
