Shauwn and Sibusiso Mpisane bring Zimbali to KwaMashu

Shauwn and Sibusiso Mpisane bring Zimbali to KwaMashu

Date: 2014-03-28
Last Friday Durban businesswoman Shauwn Mpisane and her husband Sibusiso gave away seven fully furnished homes. This amazing gesture was celebrated with a star-studded event held on the site of the beautiful gated community in D Section, KwaMashu.

Besides a long list of celebrities, the event was also attended by eThekwini mayor James Nxumalo and the city's head of human settlement, Nigel Gumede. The Mpisane couple, who are mourning the death of Sbu's brother, said they were happy to share their good fortune with their staff.

Mayor Nxumalo spoke of the power couple with admiration, he said, "Its true that charity should start at home and Shauwn and S'bu are supporting the very community they come from." He also said that the Mpisanes are bringing "Zimbali" to Kwamashu. He encouraged other business people to also follow the examples of the generous couple.

"We want the people who work for us to live a good life." Shauwn spoke briefly to The Bugle, "We want to empower not only the people of KwaMashu but also the entire Durban community," said Shauwn.

You could hear the sounds of joy and celebration as the keys to the houses were being handed out. Even the celebrities, including soapie stars, TV presenters and radio personalities, commented on the high quality of the finishes and the luxurious status of the completed homes.

Celebrities in attendance included Generations actors Bawinile Modise, who plays Khethiwe, Sophia Ndaba (Queen) and The Link presenter Lerato Kganyago.

The couple, who also undertook to refurnish Sbu's former high school in the area, will be building a further 21 houses later this year for the needy and more of their lucky employees.

The Mpisanes are also paying for tertiary fees for 27 students from the underprivileged community and for medical bills for 57 HIV-positive Durban residents.

Shauwn and S'bu have always believed that helping their communities is important to their own growth and development, they believe that you do not loose the sparkle of your flame by lighting other person's flame.
