A Tough Act to Follow!

A Tough Act to Follow!

Date: 2013-01-23
Crawford North Coast students were welcomed back to the 2013 Academic Year with a rendition of Grease. Every year, the school year begins with a special staff assembly and this year was no exception. Ably directed by Melissa Wood, the staff trod the floorboards and entertained students with a selection of song and dance routines taken from the musical. Much to the delight of the students, history teacher, Charlie Coetzee played the headmistress, Mrs Murdoch.

The role of Danny Zucco was played by dashing Senior Deputy, Les Nielson; he was accompanied by various male staff members dressed in bomber jackets with slicked-back hair who took on the role of the T-Birds. Their rendition of Greased Lightning was greeted by cheers and clapping and will be remembered for a long time to come. Sandy was played by history colleague, Shelley Chaplin, who, dressed in a blonde wig, danced and wowed the audience. However, the Pink Ladies, made up of the female staff and led by a very pregnant Donel van Zyl as Rizzo, stole the show as possibly the toughest and scariest gang of girls ever! The much anticipated show did not disappoint and demonstrated once again the versatility of the Crawford staff.
