KwaDukuza welcomes bigger and better Ballito Pro Festival
From June 28th June to July 5 festival-goers will have the opportunity to soak up some non-stop entertainment, watch the world's best surfers in action and witness firsthand why KwaDukuza is a world class surfing and holiday destination.
"We are extremely pleased to present the 2015 event to our international and domestic visitors. Together with our new partners, we aim to bring you a world class event, in celebration of 47 years of formalised surfing in South Africa and beyond. Save the date, we look forward to seeing you on the beach in Ballito," said KwaDukuza municipality events co-ordinator, Collette Bundy.
With over 100 000 visitors touching down on KwaDukuza's sunny shores during the surfing and lifestyle festival last year, 2015 promises to be bigger and better than ever before with a range of fun-filled entertainment activities planned for the whole family.
Festival-goers can expect exciting beach soccer and volleyball activations; regular stage performances by local dancers, singers and performers and an impressive retail area to explore. Children are fully catered for with a kiddies corner, sandcastle building competition and daily children's programme.
Visitors will once again be treated to some fine wining and dining at the Coastal Living Bru Food & Wine Festival hosted at La Montagne Hotel from June 30 to July 2. The popular three-night event draws food and wine connoisseurs to its artisan food market and number of exciting cooking competitions.
Always a crowd favourite, the Free Music Concerts presented by 5FM attract some of SA's hottest bands to rock out on the Salt Rock beach stage for three nights of non-stop music from July 2 to July 4. Crush NightClub will be continuing the music celebrations late into the night with their pumping afterparties, battle of the DJ contest and bar flaring competitions.
Surfing's elite performers will return to KwaDukuza for a seventh successive year when the Ballito Pro presented by Billabong, a QS10,000 rated event on the World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS), runs from 29 June to 5 July.
This year will also see the return of women to the surfing contest for the first time since 2008 with theinternationally rated women's surfing event, The Ballito Women's Pro presented by Billabong, held atWillard Beach on 28 June. The Ballito Pro have called on KwaDukuza locals to also play their part in this world-class surfing event by entering a competition to design The Ballito Pro's new trophy.
