Hartford Dreams

Hartford Dreams

It's very hard not to embellish the story about Hartford House in the Midlands. In fact I will not even try because for all those who have had the pleasure of visiting this quaint boutique hotel will know exactly what I mean. And those who have not ventured up the mountain have surely heard someone raving about Hartford House.

Last week we had the pleasure of spending just one night with Duncan Bruce and his talented and dedicated team of professionals. It was a friendly evening with some of the Midland's top food suppliers and a selection of journalists.

Dinner is always lavish and served with reserved pomp and ceremony in the manor house, which is the focal point of the property, which dates back almost two hundred years and has seen some genuine personalities occupying its spaces.

Today however, the Goss family owns and lovingly takes care of this magnificent local treasure. They regularly upgrade and restore the existing suites while adding additional extensions to this vast portion of heaven.

Hartford House is not just about the placeNo it is not! Its about the people who welcome you and makes you feel like a Rock Star on a world tour, its about the colours and the scents of the well established gardens and the mystical, eerie, almost Harry Potter like ambiance, which greets you as soon as you drive through the grand gates. Oh and then there are the horses.

There are many accommodation options that one can find on the internet when you are booking, but what most people come to Hartford House for is the food, lovingly prepared by Chef Constentejin, who is a culinary genius and his food a gastronomic phenomena.

Lovingly constructed menus, paired with delectable wines are created and revised from scratch each day. There is no compromise with Chef Constentejin's selection, locally sourced and hand picked ingredients are lovingly blended in each dish.

You have to experience it to believe it!

Oh and that's another thingthey are pretty booked up for the remainder of the year but phone anyway, if they cannot accommodate you for the night, why not go there for the day, its just two hours from Durban.

Hartford House can be reached on 033 - 263 2713 or email: info@hartford.co.za.
