F1 Report

F1 Report

Date: 2013-11-01
Sebastian Vettel secured the fourth consecutive title for both the driver's and constructor's championships in India on the weekend when he drove his Renault RB9 Infiniti Red Bull racing machine across the finish line in New Delhi.

It was an interesting tyre strategy displayed by Vettel as he rocketed from pole position into the lead, only t pull into the pits on the second lap. Why? You may ask, to change his soft Pirelli tyres for the mediums.

Vettel dropped back to seventeenth position and some fans had their hearts in theor mouth as they tried to figure out what was going on. However, when Vettel began carving through the field ahead of him, his strategy started to pay of.

Throughout the race Vettel and his teammate Mark Webber seemed to dominate the field, trading fastest lap times with each other. Webbers luck ran out again, this time with alternator trouble as the instructions came for him to "Stop the car!"

It was a great day for Red Bull as they claimed the constructor's title for the fourth time even though Mark Webber failed to finish. Red Bull amassed 470 points, while Mercedes moved up to 313 thanks to Nico Rosberg finishing second. Ferrari lucked out right from the start when the only contender Vettel had to worry about, Fernando Alonso, got caught up in the collision between Webber and Kimi Raikkonen. They have 309, and Lotus' Romain Grosjean drove an excellent race from 17 to third helping his team to a tally of 285.

The race is now for second place with the next track day being Sunday 3rd November in Abu Dhabi.
