Ballito Dolphins Junior Rugby Club

Ballito Dolphins Junior Rugby Club

Author: Kasia Yoko
Date: 2015-06-05
Its fun, its social and its good for your child. Every Friday afternoon and some Sundays, parents of Dolphin Coast school age boys meet to watch their children play rugby. Here the emphasis is on safety and whether your child plays school rugby or not is not important, if he is between 6 and 18 years old he is welcome to join the teams and learn to play the game.

Currently the juniors are being trained to improve their skills and technique and their love for Rugby is being enhanced. They have already had the opportunity to play matches, which were held on the 10th and 17th of May 2015. Practice is held on a Friday evening from 5pm until 6pm with the aid of IPSS Medic, Mr. Paul Herbst on board. The evening also allows the adults to engage in a social gathering, a bring and braai or ordering from the Salt Rock Country Club menu. All are Welcome!!

The Bugle spoke to some parents and young enthusiasts, Kerry van de Linde is a mother to young Ayrton, she beams with pride at her son's motivation to one day be a Springbok and play for South Africa, "I bring him here for the love of the game." She told me. "What can I say, he loves to play rugby."

Confident and proud Ayrton picks up where his mother left off, "I love rugby," Ayrton tells me, "and one day I want to play for the sharks and then the Springboks. It's a healthy sport and they teach you the proper way to play rugby."

The Bugle also managed to speak to a Ballito father whose son is in the Ballito Dolphins Junior Rugby Club, Alan Miskin, His son Brody love the game too, "We just want to get them out of the house on a Friday afternoon." Alan told The Bugle, "Its a great family atmosphere here, the kids can run around together and have clean fun while the parents socialize. Its all about healthy attitudes and Ballito Dolphins Junior Rugby Club is great for them."

Ballito Rugby Junior Club invites you to be part of this new sports development initiative in our hometown, Ballito. The Tournament will be held on Sunday 14 June 2015, free entry (schools closed on Monday) at our new grounds. Thereafter the Beer Festival will be open for the ages of 18 and over. Tickets will be on sale from 3pm at the grounds.
