Engineered For Performance And Economy

Engineered For Performance And Economy

Date: 2015-01-30

Renault was the first manufacturer to introduce Turbo technology to F1 in 1977 and the tools and talents used to design powerful, efficient and reliable F1 power plants have proven to be a key advantage when developing technologically advanced engines for road-going cars. Thanks to this expertise, Renault is, today, the most advanced brand globally with regard to engine downsizing.

"The choice we made to fit New Sandero Stepway with our brilliant Turbo 66kW petrol engine is true to the progressive DNA of Renault. Access to highly efficient and technologically advanced engines is no longer the reserve of expensive cars. This is Renault's stance, globally and in South Africa," says Payzan.

The new generation three cylinder Turbo 66kW power plant fitted in New Sandero Stepway (and shared with Clio), is highly efficient thanks to its 100% aluminium block, low inertia turbo and variable valve timing (VVT).

With the Turbo 66kW engine under its bonnet, the all-new Sandero Stepway reaches a top speed of 175km/h accelerating from zero to 100km/h in only 11.1 seconds. The spritely personality of the Turbo 66kW engine exudes from its engaging sound as well as its best-in-class responsiveness in all conditions, thanks to its steady low-end torque which reaches a maximum of 135Nm from 2 500rpm, 90% of which is available from 2 000rpm.

The New Sandero Stepway derivative comes standard with Renault's industry-leading five-year/150 000km warranty plus a two-year/30 000km service plan with service intervals at 15 000 km.
