Umhlanga Women Achievers crowns their 2014 winner

Umhlanga Women Achievers crowns their 2014 winner

Date: 2014-12-12
On Friday 28 November, the UWA Achiever of the Year was crowned at their year-end event, which took the form of a Greek-themed party, "My Big, Fat Greek Party". 16 businesswomen applied for this prestigious title and three external businesswomen were selected to judge the competition: Susan Mercer Williams, a financial planner based in Westville, Helet Borchardt, the marketing manager for Sanlam in Cape Town and Ingrid Roberts, a motivational speaker based in Pietermaritzburg. All 16 applications were sent to these three judges independently, and their scores were added together for each applicant, which is how they arrived at the top three.

Applicants were judged based on various criteria including any recognition received for outstanding entrepreneurship, innovations or promotions over the past 12 months; personal social responsibility activities over the past 12 months; reasons given for why customers should do business with her; motivation for what inspires and drives her; and how the applicant contributes to UWA.

1st - Tasha Jardim, Tasha's Fantastic Fudge; 2nd - Dr Kavi Naidu, Opthalmologist; 3rd - Janine O'Connor, Books and Books.
