Highest ever sales for Mahindra in SA

Highest ever sales for Mahindra in SA

Date: 2014-02-21
Mahindra South Africa, which has been operating locally for the past 10 years, had its best sales year to date in 2013 when it retailed 4056 units. The fact that the company was able to hold the prices on some models and limited increases in the course of 2013 had helped strengthen the brand's reputation for providing outstanding value for money.

"We are very happy with our performance in a very competitive market," commented the CEO of Mahindra SA, Ashok Thakur. "We now have 12 product lines in our local range of Mahindra and SsangYong vehicles and I am pleased to report that sales volumes were up in all but two of the model ranges.

The most popular model in our range remains the Scorpio pick-up with 1320 units retailed, while good progress has been made in building sales in the SsangYong range, with the Korando mid-size SUV improving by 136% to 182 units sold and we expect this number to grow substantially in 2014."

Mahindra SA proved successful in several state tenders and supplied a variety of products - Bolero, Xylo and Scorpio SUV - to government departments. Total government sales for the year were over 200 units.

Extended warranties were announced for certain Mahindra models, with a 5-year/150 000km factory warranty on the popular XUV500 SUV and the same cover applying the power train of the Scorpio double cab Pik-Up.  The XUV500 also comes with a 3-year/60 000km service plan. All the other Mahindra models are covered by a 3-year/100 000km warranty.
