Ever since its first editions Thomas Yoko, editor of 'The Bugle' has reported on the legendary adventurers of the most travelled team in Africa. The North Coast's very own modern day explorers whose Land Rover adventures have taken them to every country on the African Continent to include all of her Island states.
But what sets this Kingsley Holgate led band of pilgrims apart is the way they give back to Mama Afrika, not only through their Land Rover Supported Malaria Prevention work that they do in high risk Malaria areas throughout sub Saharan Africa but also through their 'Mashozi's Rite To Sight' campaign in which tens of thousands of spectacles are distributed to poor sighted elderly people in remote areas, and the expeditions 'Life straws' help provide safe drinking water to thousands.
The Kingsley Holgate Geographic and Humanitarian expeditions, many of which are 'world firsts', are obviously full of dangerous challenges. They followed in the footsteps of famous explorer's like Burton Speke, Livingstone and Stanley. They've been attacked by pirates whist sailing an Arab Dhow to Somalia and back, been interrogated by rebels and war lords, have crossed the continent south to north in open boats and then east to west from the mouth of the Zambezi to the mouth of the Congo, By Land Rover they have followed the Tropic of Capricorn around the world, tracked Africa's outside edge through 33 countries in 449 days.
So it's always exciting when they return back home safely to the North Coast again, this time from an adventure they've called a 'Journey to the Jade Sea'. An odyssey to the world's longest desert lake also known as Lake Turkana in Kenya's somewhat un-tamed Northern frontier district. It's a story of high adventure best told from the scribbles taken from Kingsley Holgate's dog-eared expedition note book, and one which The Bugle is going to serialise in eight dispatches over the next few weeks - Enjoy the read!
There is a competition attached to these dispatches, and the first correct answer sent through to the email address
